The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk softball and baseball teams make the trip to take on top 10 Iowa City Regina Monday on the road. The Golden Hawk softball team has an overall record of 3-8. They fell to Lisbon in a weekend tournament 11-2 Saturday. For the season, the Golden Hawks are hitting .234 as a team, led by last week’s JET Physical Therapy Athlete of the Week Cassidy Rourke with her .364 average, 12 hits, 10 RBI and five home runs. Mid-Prairie’s team ERA is 4.38 with Rourke holding a 1-4 record and 4.90 ERA in 30 innings of work.

Iowa City Regina softball started the season ranked No. 4 in class 2A according to the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. The Regals have a 6-8 overall record. They won a pair of games over the weekend at the Cedar Rapids Jefferson tournament, beating Southeast Polk 7-2 and Johnston 4-2. On the season, Regina is hitting .240, led by Maeve Dunne with a .382 average. In the circle the Regals have a 2.12 ERA with Katie Bracken leading the way in 70 innings with a 1.50 ERA and 5-7 record. These two teams met a year ago with the Regals sweeping a doubleheader in Kalona by a combined 15-0 score.

The Mid-Prairie baseball team comes into tonight with an overall mark of 5-3 after a sweep of Tipton by 5-1 and 7-6 scores last week. For the year, the Hawks are hitting .255, led by Brad Tornow and his .429 average. On the hill, Mid-Prairie has a 2.01 ERA with Tornow holding a 1-0 record and 1.08 ERA across 13 innings of work.

Regina has a 3-7 overall record. They fell to Iowa City High 6-5 over the weekend. On the year, the Regals are hitting .210, led by Declan McCoy with a .333 average. On the hill, the Regals have a team ERA of 4.70 with Alex Meister leading the way at a 1.50 ERA 1-1 record in 14 innings thrown. Last year these teams met three times, including once in the playoffs with the Regals taking all three.
