The Highland softball team hosts Iowa Mennonite Monday in an all-KCII area battle. These two teams opened the season against one another, as Highland scored a 17-0 win in three innings in May, led by Abbie Miller hitting for the cycle. The Huskies enter the game with a 6-5 overall record after going 1-2 over the weekend at the Calamus-Wheatland tournament with losses to Northeast Gooselake and Camanche and a win over Clinton. Highland is hitting .304 as a team, led by Miller hitting .457 with a team best 16 hits and 24 RBI. Highland’s team ERA is 3.71 with senior Megan Hoenig leading the way with a 6-2 record and 1.88 ERA in 48 innings.

Iowa Mennonite is 0-6 coming into the game. Last time out they were beaten 7-6 by Columbus. IMS is hitting .213 as a team, led by Suzanna Yoder with a .400 average, two home runs and three RBI. In the circle they have a team ERA of 11.84, led by Leah Bontrager with 29 innings thrown, an 0-6 record and 12.55 ERA. Action begins tonight at 7p.m. at Highland High School.
