The Lone Tree softball team got back on track Friday night defeating Southeast Iowa Super Conference foe Van Buren 8-7.
The Lions plated three runs in the first, three in the third, and tacked on two more in the fourth. Leading 8-4, the Warrios made it a game scoring three times in the fifth, but pitcher Kinley Hayes buckled down and preserved the win. The freshman picked up the win in the circle pitching the final five innings giving up three runs on three hits and striking out three. The Lions had six hits led by Lillian Miller going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Lone Tree is now 2-7 and travels to Columbus today.
