Two KCII-area schools tangle Thursday night in Kalona when the Iowa Mennonite baseball and softball teams host the Lions of Lone Tree. The IMS baseball team is 3-3 on the year after falling to Burlington Notre Dame Tuesday and Cardinal of Eldon Wednesday this week. IMS is hitting .230 as a team, led by Jacob Boller with a .400 average. They have a team ERA of 3.27 with Blake Bontrager holding a 2-0 record and 1.00 ERA in 14 innings of work.
The Lone Tree baseball team is 6-3 on the year, winners of four in a row, including a 10-2 victory over Danville on Wednesday. For the season the Lions are hitting .318, led by Bryce Houser with a .560 average. The Lions have a team ERA of 3.66, led by Harmon Miller with a 1-1 record who has not allowed an earned run on the season. These two teams met twice a season ago with IMS sweeping the Lions by 5-1 and 4-1 scores.
The Lone Tree softball team is 4-8 entering play tonight. They were beaten by Highland Tuesday 12-0. They are hitting .237 as a team with Abby Buckman holding the top average at .387. The Lions have an overall ERA of 3.60 with Buckman also in the lead at a 1.86ERA with a 2-6 record in 49 innings.
IMS softball is 0-9 on the year, they dropped their game at Cardinal on Wednesday 9-2. They are hitting .207 as a team with Rubye Ney at .375. IMS has a team ERA of 8.34 with Leah Bontrager working 48 innings at an 8.60 ERA.
