The Lone Tree softball team cruised to a pair of Superconference wins Thursday in Kalona over rival Iowa Mennonite. Lone Tree won game one by a 10-0 score and took game two 16-4. In their 10-0 win, the Lions pounded out eight hits including home runs from Lillian Miller and Kinley Hayes as they combined for seven RBI. Lone Tree put up two runs in the second, three in the third and five in the sixth. Abby Buckman held down the IMS offense, allowing just two hits while striking out 10. In the second game, the Lion offense again ran wild, pounding 13 total hits and Arlie Lorack driving in four. Lone Tree scored three in the first, six in the second and seven in the third. IMS managed two runs each in the first and third innings with RBI from Suzanna Yoder and Leah Bontrager. Kinley Hayes recorded the win in the circle for Lone Tree. With the sweep the Lions are 6-8 on the year, IMS falls to 0-11.
