Community members are invited to celebrate the first anniversary of the Lone Tree Wellness Center Tuesday.
Lone Tree School District Superintendent Ken Crawford says the celebration will include games, giveaways, and a special appearance from Herky the Hawk. The facility includes a full-size basketball court, workout room, and a track. The center opened its doors last June. There are currently around 380 members, which is almost double the 200 membership goal they set for the first year.
Crawford adds that the facility has been the focus of the Lone Tree Community School District since before he arrived to the scene two years ago, and this milestone would not be possible without the community’s support, “The school board is very thankful for the community’s support. It is done through bond issue, it’s been done through a Riverside Casino grant, and an Enhance Iowa grant, then we had a lot of community members step up and donate money to it as well. I think we just really want to say thank you and keep it in the forefront and not be something that’s taken for granted. Everybody understands this is a great facility for a community of this size.”
The celebration will be from 6-8 p.m. at the Lone Tree Wellness Center.
