In 1959 Halcyon House in Washington opened and this week the facility is celebrating it’s 60th anniversary. The community is invited to attend the celebration with a formal presentation at 4 p.m. Susan Wellington from Halcyon House says the community on South Iowa Avenue has grown over the last six decades, “We have went through a few changes. Our square footage has probably, well in the ’70s we added our three independent living buildings and then just in 2017 we moved into the new healthcare households out front. So yeah, lots to see, and if you haven’t been there for a while there’s been a lot of changes.”
Wednesday’s celebration will include a ribbon cutting with the Washington Chamber of Commerce at 4:30 p.m. There will also be an antique car show from 4-6 p.m., a buffet dinner and tours, and live music by James Crossroads.
