University of Iowa health science students will be gaining meaningful experience while offering free health services in Columbus Junction this weekend.
A free mobile health clinic will be making a stop in Columbus Junction Saturday. Services include sports physicals, physician consultations, and blood pressure checks. All are invited, including those who have a hard time speaking English as there will be Spanish interpreters available to help bridge any language barriers.
Clinic Coordinator Caleb Fredrickson says offering free clinics like this can be beneficial to the community, “This specific kind of free clinic is really useful because people don’t always understand that they can still see a provider, even if they don’t have insurance. A lot of people who don’t have insurance or do not speak English are much more wary to go to a physician than get their blood pressure checked or their cholesterol checked.”
The free mobile health clinic will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Columbus Junction Senior Center.
