An event for tractors and another for bikes will be using county roads this summer. The Washington County Board of Supervisors approved the secondary road use requests at their meeting Tuesday. Washington County Auditor Dan Widmer explained they’re for the Eastern Iowa Sledhead’s Stumptown Tractor Ride this Saturday and the Rock ‘N’ Ride in July, “Just like the previous application from Eastern Iowa Sledheads, Rock ‘N’ Ride they’ve held this event for several years now. And I have not participated, but from what I’m told and what I’ve heard it’s a very, very successful, very successful event.”
Saturday’s Stumptown Tractor Ride route will start at River Junction and then go to Lone Tree, then south to Conesville, on to Columbus Junction and then on G-36, Willow Avenue, 223rd Street and Mather Street to Haskins. The group will take Vine Avenue back to Highway 22 to complete the loop. The tractor ride is expected run from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The fifth annual Rock ‘N’ Ride will be July 13th with the bike ride portion expected to start at 9 a.m. and end at 1 p.m. The cycling route will include Riverside Road and G36 to get bicyclists from Washington to Riverside and back. Rock ‘N’ Ride raises funds for cancer research.
