The Iowa Mennonite School baseball team hosted Mediapolis for a Superconference doubleheader Tuesday in Kalona. MEPO took game one by a 13-3 score and IMS rebounded to win the second game 7-4. Game one was tight with each team posting a run in the first inning. IMS added two in the top of the third to take their first lead at 3-1 only to see Mediapolis score 12 unanswered including a seven run fifth inning. Noah Miller and Trevor Leyden were each three for three at the plate. Blake Bontrager took the loss for IMS going four and two thirds innings allowing 11 hits and 11 runs.
In the second game, Mediapolis scored three times in the first to take the early advantage. IMS came back to tie the game at three with two in the first and one in the second. MEPO kept the back and forth going with a run in the third but IMS took control of the game with a four run fifth and that was enough for Eli Ours on the mound who got the complete game win, allowing 10 hits, four runs and striking out eight. Ours and London Schrock were each two of four hitting with an RBI. With the split, IMS is now 8-5 on the year.
