A woman was rescued from a hole Thursday afternoon in Fairfield.

According to Fairfield Fire Chief Scott Vaughan, they received a call at 12:50 p.m. that there was a female trapped in a hole in the 2200 block of Marigold Boulevard near the Fairfield Wastewater Treatment Plant. Vaughan says the woman fell 12 feet in a hole on a construction site. Emergency crews were able to rescue the woman from the area less than an hour after the call was received. The woman was transported by ambulance to the Jefferson County Health Center, then taken by Air Care to the University of Iowa Hospital.

The Fairfield Fire Department, Fairfield Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Jefferson County Emergency Management, and Midwest Ambulance assisted at the scene.
