A Sigourney man has been charged in the death of a four-month-old child.
According to the Iowa Department of Public Safety, on Wednesday 21-year-old Johnny Dale Jr. of Sigourney was arrested and charged with child endangerment resulting in serious injury. That charge has now been changed to first-degree murder. Sunday morning, the mother of four-month-old Kane Bruns found her son unresponsive at their home in Oskaloosa. The child was taken to the Mahaska County Hospital, then flown to the Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines where he later died. Dale Jr. was the primary caregiver for the child on June 16th. He is currently in custody at the Mahaska County Jail on a $1,000,000 bond.
