In classic pitcher’s duel fashion, the Highland softball team capped off the week on Thursday edging Southeast Iowa Super Conference foe Wapello by a 2-1 final.

The game was a scoreless tie until the fifth when Ellie Anderson came through with a two RBI single that plated Emily Yahnke and Sarah Schneider. The Arrows scratched across a run in the seventh, but that is all Megan Hoenig gave up, as she tossed seven innings of one run ball with three hits and no walks. Abbi Stransky led the eight hit Huskie offense going 3-for-3 with a double.

Highland is 11-7 on the season and travel to Roland-Story today for a tournament.
