The Iowa Mennonite School baseball team faced off with the Pekin Panthers Thursday night on the road, falling in one game 11-1 but taking the other 8-7. In their loss, IMS watched Pekin roll out to a 6-0 lead while holding IMS to just one run, four total hits and ending the game in the fifth inning. Drew Blauvelt took the loss for IMS, going two and a third innings, giving up six hits, six runs, walking four and striking out one. In their 8-7 win, IMS fell behind 1-0 early but scored three times in the bottom of the second to take a 3-1 lead. Pekin would answer in the fifth, scoring six to take a 7-3 lead. IMS would get one in the bottom of the fifth but make their big move in the sixth when they scored four times to take the lead and get the win. Blake Bontrager, London Schrock, Kobe Borntrager and Drew Blauvelt all drove in two in the win. Borntrager got the win in relief going two innings, giving up just one hit, one walk and striking out one. IMS is now 9-6 on the year after the split.
