Riverside will be celebrating the “Aliens of Star Trek” this weekend.

The 35th annual TrekFest celebration will be held Friday and Saturday. Actress and stuntwoman Sandra Gimpel will headline the entertainment at this year’s TrekFest. Gimpel appeared in Star Trek as a salt monster and Talosian. The festival will also include live music performances from Iowa City’s American Idol contestant Abbie Callahan, Cedar Rapids band Crazy Delicious, and the Washington Community Band. The festivities start Friday at 5 p.m. with a vendor fair, bounce houses, face painting, and a talent show at Hall Park.

Trek Fest Director Andy Rodgers says he’s excited to see the event come to fruition, “When the day’s finally here and everything’s going, no matter how good, bad, or other, it’s just a joy all the way around to watch how the product ends up.”

The KCII Big Red Radio will be broadcasting live from TrekFest as part of the KCII Summer Town Tour.
