As the 4th of July approaches, it’s important to be aware of fireworks regulations.

According to Kalona City Code, it is unlawful to sell or discharge any fireworks within city limits. The only exceptions are for city agencies, fair associations, amusement parks and other organizations who obtain a permit through the City of Kalona. Failure to obey can result in a misdemeanor charge and a fine of no less than $250 per Iowa Code.
