Unemployment rates in the KCII-listening area remain below the state and national rates. In May, Iowa’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 2.4% with nearly 41,000 Iowans without work. According to Iowa Workforce Development, Iowa’s unemployment rate remained steady from April to May at 1.9%. In May, the county with the highest unemployment rate in the state was 3.2% in both Marshall County and Des Moines County. The lowest unemployment rate was in northwest Iowa in Lyon County at 1.3%.
