Lake Darling will join 19 other state parks in hosting artists to celebrate the 100-year-mark of state parks in Iowa.

Woodturning artist Rob Wallace will be making the trip from Ames to share his work with the Brighton community. Beginning this spring, and through the end of the summer, state parks are hosting artists as part of the “20 Artists, 20 Parks” program. Chief of the State Parks Bureau at the Iowa DNR Todd Coffelt says this program brings out the best of two of Iowa’s virtues, “The 20 Artists, 20 Parks program highlights two important contributors to quality of life in Iowa, arts and the outdoors.” Wallace is currently an instructor at Iowa State University. He has been woodturning since his pre-teen days. He has had his work displayed at the Iowa State Fair Fine Art Exhibitions since 2007. Wallace will be at Lake Darling State Park Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
