The search for a missing kayaker on the Skunk River continues. Authorities are looking for 52-year-old David Alan Woodson of Brighton. He has been missing since Saturday night.
According to the Washington County Communications Office, at 6:50 p.m. Saturday a person called 911 to report their friend had flipped his kayak and had gone missing. The incident happened near 3180 Highway 1 north of Brighton. A search ensued. Emergency responders from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Department of Natural Resources, Brighton Fire Department, Brighton First Responders, Washington Fire Department, Washington County Rescue, and Washington County Ambulance all responded to the scene. The search was suspended overnight Saturday.
On Sunday authorities went back out into the 90-degree heat and continued the search until 4:30 p.m. The search was suspended Sunday night and began again Monday at 8 a.m. KCII News will bring you more information as it becomes official.
