A search continues for a missing kayaker on the Skunk River near Brighton. According to the Washington County Communications Office, at 6:50 p.m. Saturday a person called 911 to report their friend had flipped their kayak and had gone missing. The incident happened near 3180 Highway 1 near Brighton. A search ensued. Emergency responders from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Department of Natural Resources, Brighton Fire Department, Brighton First Responders, Washington Fire Department, Washington County Rescue and Washington County Ambulance all responded to the scene and began a search. The search was suspended overnight Saturday.
Sunday authorities went back out into the heat advisory and continued the search until 4:30 p.m. The search was suspended Sunday night and is set to resume Monday morning. Names of those involved have not been released. KCII News will bring you more information as it becomes official.
