A woman woke to find a man trying on her grandson’s shoes in her enclosed front porch in Brighton and he was later arrested. According to the Washington County Communications Office, at 7:40 a.m. Friday the man was found on a porch in the 100 block of West Main Street. The door latch was broken, he’d drank some of her water, he had unplugged the deep freeze, and was trying on some shoes. The man was talking about people chasing him. He took a crescent wrench from the porch and left on foot. Washington County Sheriff’s deputies checked the area.
At 8:53 a.m. another person called in that a homeless person was staying in the laundry building. Deputies responded and arrested 35-year-old Christopher John Morrison, Sr., of West Branch for failure to appear for pretrial conference on the original charge of theft in the fourth degree. He was taken to the Washington County Jail. The crescent wrench was returned to the porch.
