The Mid-Prairie softball team made it two wins in a row Wednesday with an 8-7 victory over visiting Monticello in Kalona. Mid-Prairie broke through first, scoring four times in the bottom of the third inning as Kylee Kos and Karsen Jehle drove in runs while Abbi Patterson, Rylee Vercande, Georgia Nisly and Jaselyn Robertson all scored. The Panthers got on the board with a single run in the top of the fourth and then tied the game with a three run sixth, aided by three Golden Hawk errors in the frame. The Golden Hawks would respond in the bottom of the sixth with four runs as Vercande, Lanie Bowlin, Cassidy Rourke and Myah Lugar all scored with Rourke and Nisly collecting RBI to put the Hawks back ahead 8-4. Monticello made one final push in the seventh, scoring three times to get within 8-7 before Lugar came in to record the save.
Patterson, Nisly and Robertson all had two hits. Rourke got the win in the circle going six and a third, giving up four hits, seven runs, walking four and striking out five. Mid-Prairie is now 9-19 on the season.
