Iowa 4-H alumni will have a new way to take part in the Washington County Fair this year by showing horses. For the first time, there will be an alumni halter class. Alumni will be partnered up with a current 4-Her and alumni will get to show one of the horses that already competed earlier in the day. Washington County 4-H and Youth Coordinator Amy Green encourages any Iowa 4-H alumni, not just those from Washington County, to sign up and get back in the show ring, “We encourage people just to come, cheer on. We are taking a registration there, to make sure that we can get you paired up with a 4-Her. So, if you or someone from your family wants to participate, have them give us the call at the Extension Office and we will make sure we get them partnered up. Horse and Pony [Club] is really excited, if you want to come to workouts just like the old days, you’re welcome to come to workouts and meet your partner as well.” The Washington County Fair begins with the fair queen contest on Sunday, July 14th and wraps up Friday, July 19th with motocross and fireworks at the grandstand. Join the KCII Big Red Radio for fun all week at the Washington County Fair.
