There is an increased chance of severe thunderstorms in eastern Iowa Tuesday night and Wednesday according to the National Weather Service. The Storm Prediction Center has southeast Iowa up through the Quad Cities in a slight risk zone. Slight risk means that scattered severe storms are possible with short-lived, isolated intense storms possible.
Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors. Washington County Emergency Management Coordinator Marissa Reisen says when you hear thunder or see lightning you need to seek shelter, “If you’re outside and you hear thunder, you need to start heading inside. Because even if you don’t see lightning, if there’s thunder that you can hear there’s still a chance that lightning could get to you where you are.”
