The start of the postseason went as planned for the Winfield-Mt. Union softball team, as they marched past Tri-County 9-1 on Monday in a first round class 1A regional.

The Wolves kept generating offense scoring in the second, third, fifth, and sixth inning that was more than enough for Madie Anderson in the circle. The sophomore gave up just one hit in the complete game and struck out a remarkable 19 batters out of 21 outs. WMU had five hits led by Anna Anderson going 2-for-4 with one RBI and Carlee Sloan had three runs scored.

WMU improves to 17-8 and advance to the quarterfinal round against BGM tomorrow.
