Anyone 18-years old or younger can get a free lunch Monday through Friday in Washington. The Washington School District is again holding free lunches during the week from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day. Superintendent Willie Stone invites any kids visiting the community to stop by for a free meal, “This is for any student. All children are welcome 18-years of age or younger. And no enrollment, no cost. It’s for any kid that’s in our district if we have, or in the community, if we have kids coming to the swimming pool and their hungry, catch a ride to the school and you can get a free meal. It’s a great program. It’s a program that the last district I was at had, and it really does a lot for our kids. It really gives all of our kids an opportunity to have that good warm meal every day, and that’s the thing we’re most excited about.” Lunch will be available at Stewart Elementary School through August 9th.

There are also free buses to get students to the lunch center. You can catch a bus at Kirkwood, HACAP, the YMCA, the Reserves at Briarwood, Case Field, Sunset Park, the Lutheran Church, St. James, and in Brighton. Adults are welcome to join for lunch as well at a small fee.

The first day of school will be Friday, August 23rd.
