The Columbus Community softball team saw their season come to a close on Wednesday when they fell to top-seeded Davenport Assumption 12-0 in the first round of a class 3A regional.
The Wildcats hung tough for a few innings trailing 4-0 after two when the Knights broke out for eight runs in the third to end the game early. Head Coach Katie Coil tells KCII Sports defense kept them in it at the start. “Jobie Lekwa had an awesome double play. It was a deep ball in right field that she made a nice catch on and doubled the runner off at first. It was a great second inning but we couldn’t get our bats going.”
The Wildcats end the year at 4-20 and they say goodbye to seniors Aubrey Duncan and Quinn Scarff.
