The Iowa Mennonite School baseball team finds themselves in familiar territory Saturday as they face Pekin with the class 1A district eight championship on the line. IMS is looking for their third consecutive district title after an impressive 14-5 win over Highland in the second round of the tournament Tuesday. IMS dominated the game pounding out 12 hits, led by Noah Miller and Blake Bontrager each with a pair of hits and three RBI. On the season, IMS is hitting .303 as a team, led by Bontrager with a .426 average. The IMS pitching staff has a team ERA of 3.59, best in the Superconference North Division, led by Eli Ours with a 1.81 ERA, following the injury to Trevor Leyden.

Pekin comes into the game with an overall record of 15-8. The Panthers advanced to the district title game by upsetting top seed Burlington Notre Dame 10-4 on Tuesday behind a two for four night for Tanner Bainbridge with four RBI. Bainbridge also got the win on the mound going five and a third innings on 111 pitches, giving up four hits, two runs, walking two and striking out 12. These two teams met twice during the regular season, splitting the two meetings with Pekin winning 11-1 and IMS taking an 8-7 victory.
