A mermaid, a magnolia, abstract work, and more are featured in art available at the Washington Public Library’s auction. The silent art auction is in the Helen Wilson Gallery with bids starting at $10. Carol Ray says there’s an array of artwork with various styles that would be nice for homes or an office and they come from two sources, “One, which is like we did last year, was works of art reproductions that you could check out just like a book. We had a bin full of them and the bin was taking a lot of space and there wasn’t a lot of action. So, we thought, why don’t we pull some of the ones that haven’t been checked out and put them on an auction. So, that’s one wall. And then the other wall is items that have been in the library collection for many years. None of them are originals, they’re all reproductions of some kind, but some of them very high quality, and beautifully framed. So there’s some real bargains here for people who want to take the time to bid on them. They were things, a lot of them are what Dave Elder donated to the library over the years.” There is a silk screen print of the Blair House. Bids will be accepted through the month of August. To place a bid, visit the second floor of the library and place your name and phone number with the artwork you’d like to bid on.
