This past weekend was the 47th Annual Shrine Bowl at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls and a few KCII area athletes competed.
WACO’s Colton Horak and Highland’s Trey Lasek suited up for the South team and they defeated the North by a 24-13 score. The Shrine Bowl is a senior only all-star game that raises money for The Shriner’s Hospital for Children. To date, the event has raised over $2,600,000. Players are selected by a process of nomination by coaches, balloting by media professionals across the state, and an official invitation from a representative of the Iowa Shrine Bowl.
Both area athletes will continue wearing the pads this fall, as Horak will play football at William Penn University and Lasek will stay in Cedar Falls playing for the University of Northern Iowa. Sigourney-Keota head coach Jared Jensen served as an assistant coach for the South squad.
