University of Iowa health science students will be hosting a free mobile health clinic in Columbus Junction tomorrow.
Clinics like this give students an opportunity to gain meaningful experience while providing services to the community. Services available will include physician consultations, blood pressure checks, and sports physicals free of charge. There will also be Spanish interpreters on site.
Clinic Coordinator Caleb Fredrickson says clinics like this are important to give community members access to basic health services, “This specific kind of free clinic is really useful because people don’t always understand that they can still see a provider, even if they don’t have insurance. A lot of people who don’t have insurance or do not speak English are much more wary to go to a physician than get their blood pressure checked or their cholesterol checked.”
The clinic will be available tomorrow from 11:30 a.m- 2:30 p.m. at the Church of St. Joseph in Columbus Junction.
