Area 4-H and FFA members were supported by more than 70 businesses and individuals at the annual livestock auction. On the last day of the Washington County Fair, anyone who showed livestock at the county fair was able to sign up to have their livestock sold in the auction. Washington County 4-H and Youth Coordinator Amy Green says it’s a great way to support local youth, “We invite businesses, individuals, anyone can come who wants to support their projects and buy local food, and get to know exactly where it came from, and maybe even know the kid where your food came from.” There were 72 local businesses or personal buyers who took away livestock and awarded Washington County 4-H and FFA members with paychecks. The auctioneers for the show were Keith Murphy, Dwight Duwa, Matt McWhirter, and clerk Jean Wehr.
