Host families are needed for foreign exchange students this school year for the Washington area. Regional Program Manager with World Link Karen King-Fitzgerald tells KCII News that all family types are welcome to apply including those who are single or married, those with young children, no children, teenagers or grandchildren.

Students selected for the program have received a scholarship through the U.S. Department of State and are chosen based on their leadership and academic levels. Students will attend the local high school and volunteer in the community, while living with a host family. The program covers the student’s medical insurance, school fees, and expenses, with a monthly allowance of pocket money. Host families provide meals, a bed, love, and a home away from home. Students can share a room with a host sibling.

King-Fitzgerald says school deadlines are approaching quickly and more hosts are needed. A couple more hosts are needed for Washington High School foreign exchange students. Those interested should contact Karen King-Fitzgerald at 515-491-1551 or emailkaren@worldlinkinc.org.
