The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys soccer team wrapped up their season in late May but have busy since, looking ahead to next year. Mid-Prairie has participated in a weekly league at Solon throughout the summer and recently traveled to Luther College in Decorah for a team camp. Mid-Prairie head coach Pat Cady talked about the two off-season events. “This year we had 15 kids sign up to go to Solon and they have been looking good. I think they have won every game up there but maybe two. The commitment is there. Then we take off and go to Decorah at Luther College for our yearly team camp. At Decorah we scrimmage them, they have a college goal keeper, and we beat them 6-1. We also worked on individual skills and midfield. I have to be happy with where these kids are. They are realistic with what their future can be if they put the work in to get there. I am getting the commitment from the kids without having to push them.”
The Golden Hawks will begin their regular season preparation with open gym sessions starting in November.
