A school supply drive is being held in honor of a former Washington Community School District teacher. Each year Halcyon House hosts a school supply drive in honor of Reta Beemblossom. The goal is to fill as many backpacks as possible with donations of notebooks, glue sticks, pencils, crayons, folders, scissors, and more. Backpacks are also welcome. Beemblossom’s daughter, Jean Knowles says the supplies go to local elementary students, “We love having those for students who are new to our district at the beginning of the year, as well as students who come throughout the year to be able to give them all of the school supplies, connect them immediately to school, and have a really, really positive start to their academic career for that year.”

Donations may be dropped off at the front office of Halcyon House, Applewood Bistro, or Lending Hands. Monetary donations are also welcomed to purchase supplies. Donations are being accepted through August 12th.
