A local 4H-er will represent Louisa County in this year’s Governor’s Charity Steer Show at the Iowa State Fair.

Tate Boysen will represent Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois. The Ronald McDonald House helps cut the costs for families who have to travel to get the healthcare their child’s medical condition requires. Each year, 25 4-H youth-owned steers are shown by celebrities and public figures. Following the show, the steers are sold at auction with the profits going to charity. The annual event began in 1983. Since then, over $3.5 million has been raised to help nearly 48,000 families.

The steer show will start at 4 p.m. Saturday, August 10th at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.
