On the surface, it may seem strange that our number eight Iowa Mennonite School sports story comes to us from Mid-Prairie but the Golden Hawk girls soccer program saw success it hadn’t seen in six years due to the contributions of student athletes from IMS thanks to the two schools sharing agreement for the program. The Golden Hawks had a remarkable turnaround from 1-10 last year to 10-4 this season, their highest win total since 2013, and included an eight match winning streak in the second half of the season. The Golden Hawks led the River Valley Conference in scoring, assists, shots on goal and penalty kicks. IMS freshman Julia Boller was the team leader with 19 goals, second in the RVC. Boller led the River Valley with 10 assists. A total of six Iowa Mennonite School student athletes were on the Mid-Prairie team this year.
