The fourth best sports story in our top 10 countdown for Washington in the 2018-2019 academic year is the work of one cross-country athlete that finished last fall in Fort Dodge.

For the first time in his career, Evan Horak qualified for the class 3A state meet and finished 94th out of 131 runners with a time of 18:00.5. The junior punched his ticket to state after finishing 13th at a class 3A district meet in Fairfield. In 2017 Brennan Horak became the first Demon boy to qualify for state since the 1990s and Evan made for back-to-back seasons with the orange and black running in Fort Dodge.

Horak will start his journey back to state on September 3rd when he opens up his senior season. Tomorrow we take a look at out third best story that takes us to the gridiron.
