A Wayland man and Fairfield woman were arrested in Henry County on multiple charges after being caught shoplifting. According to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, at 6:25 a.m. Tuesday, two shoplifters were reported at the Walmart store in Washington. The two people headed south in a silver Ford Focus. Deputies located the vehicle southbound on Highway 218. A traffic stop was conducted at the intersection of Highway 218 and 200th Street. The people were identified as Cole Emry-Stannard of Wayland and Maci Hungerford of Fairfield. Neither was valid to drive a motor vehicle. Items stolen from Walmart were found, as well as a small amount of methamphetamine and a couple ammunition rounds.

Emry-Stannard was charged with possession of methamphetamine, driving while barred, failure to carry a registration card, and failure to provide proof of financial liability. Hungerford was taken into custody and transported to Washington County.
