Our top 10 countdown of the best sports stories from the 2018-2019 academic year for KCII area schools culminates today with our number one story that takes a look at a high school wrestling career that won’t soon be forgotten.

Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines has turned into a second home for Columbus Community/Winfield-Mt. Union wrestler Jarod Kadel, and this past February was nothing different qualifying for his third straight state tournament. In his sophomore and junior seasons he journeyed to the title match to place second each time and after bumping up a few classes this year Kadel finished with a sixth place finish at 138lbs for class 2A. He capped off his senior campaign with an impressive 41-3 record. The WMU graduate will take his talents to division 1 powerhouse Oklahoma State this winter.
