Dante’s Ascent is this year’s show for the Washington High School Marching Demon Nation. The marching band’s music for the 2019 season was created by senior John Flannery who shared the inspiration came from a recent show the band performed, “My eighth grade year we did the show Dante’s Descent, so it’s kind of like a sequel almost to that. I felt it was just kind of an inspirational starting point.” Flannery began writing the music back in December. He then went through the editing process and worked closely with band director Don Hughes to finalize the work.
This year’s band has 77 members and is under the direction of drum majors Audrey Wubenna and Hunter Rarick. The band’s first field show is September 6th at halftime of the home football game. The band will be competing September 21st in both Fort Madison and in Mt. Pleasant.
