Iowa’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased slightly to 2.5% in July. The state’s jobless rate was 2.4% one year ago.
Washington County’s unemployment rate also crept up, from 2.0% last July to 2.3% this July. In surrounding counties, unemployment rates for July ranged from a low of 2.0% in Iowa County to a high of 2.9% in Keokuk County. Unemployment rates for all area counties are up over last year.
The U.S. unemployment rate remained at 3.7 percent in July.
