columbus-logo3-4

It was a tough way to start the season for the Columbus Community football team on Friday night, as they fell to Cardinal 38-0 in a week zero contest.

The Comets scored in their first drive and took advantage of a punt block and pick-six to build a 21-0 lead at half with it continuing to grow in the final two quarters. In his varsity debut, Bawi UK completed four of 13 passes for 67 yards. Will Schwab had a busy night carrying the rock 27 times for 92 yards and Tucker Bright caught one pass for 40 yards. Head Coach Tyler Kibbee tells KCII Sports they need to do a better job upfront. “We got stalemated in the hole too many times. We have to get more of a knock back on the defensive line and if we can do that we can get good chunks of yards with a hard runner in Will.”

The Wildcats open the year 0-1 and get back at it Friday hosting Highland.
