Bridge work on Highway 1 near Kalona will start September 9th. It was initially scheduled to start a week earlier. Crews will be replacing the bridge over Camp Creek, about three miles south of Highway 22. The Iowa Department of Transportation says work is expected to take two weeks, weather permitting. The detour is 32 miles and will include Highway 22, Highway 218, and Highway 92.

The Iowa DOT reminds people to drive with caution, obey posted speed limits and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines in work zones are double for moving violations.
