The Winfield Mt. Union volleyball team opened the year on Thursday night splitting a home triangular.
The Wolves defeated Keokuk in straight sets (21-6, 21-12) but then fell to #5 ranked in class 2A Van Buren (6-21, 16-21). Jenna Buffington led the way on the day with 10 kills and Kayla Edwards had 18 assists. Jami Wilkerson was successful on 18 of 20 serves including five aces. Wilkerson, Kyndal Townsley, and Carlee Sloan each had eight digs defensively.
WMU starts up the year 1-1 and gets back on the court tomorrow traveling to West Branch for a tournament.
