After being closed for three months, Highway 92 is now open near Columbus Junction. The Iowa Department of Transportation officially reopened the road Thursday. The highway was closed on May 27th after severe damage from a mudslide. The two-lane highway had to be completely reconstructed west of Louisa County Road X-17. The $1,005,352-project was completed by DeLong Construction, Inc. The reconstruction work began August 5th and met the goal of having the road open by Labor Day. The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limits and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones.
