The U.S. Postal Service is not delivering mail today. Schools are not holding classes today. Also, trash and recycling pick up in Washington is delayed one day for all residents this week. Labor Day, observed the first Monday of September annually, became a holiday in 1894 when approved by Congress to honor works across the United States.
