The Columbus Community cross country teams made a short drive to Louisa-Muscatine on Tuesday and made a positive impact with the boys finishing second out of four teams and the girls in third.

The boys finished with 41 points and Wilton took home the title with 18. Isaac Acosta clocked in at 19:46 that landed him in third on the day and Alex Rivas was not far behind in seventh (21:02). Other top runners included Garrett Palmer in ninth (21:14), Freddy Vergara in 10th (21:15), and Mason Hills-Carrier in 12th (21:43).

The Wildcat girls placed third with 63 points and the Beavers swept the competition with 39. Freshman Van Iang cracked the top three in third with a time of 25:06 and Esther Lian was 10th (28:41). Other finishes included Juvixsa Valdez 11th (29:44), Avery Sipes 17th (31:16), and Julie Sosa 22nd (34:59).

Columbus gets back on the course Monday in Keota.
