With 41% of corn in the dented stage, Iowa’s crop is two weeks behind last year and nine days behind average. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, in the southeast district corn is even further behind with 77% in the dough stage and 28% has dented. The state’s corn is rated at 11% excellent, 51% good, 27% fair, and 11% poor to very poor. Soybeans in the state are also behind.

Across Iowa, the soybean crop has 90% setting pods at 18 days behind last year, and only three percent has started coloring, 11 days behind average. In the southeast district, 80% of soybeans are setting pods. Soybeans in Iowa are currently rated at 9% excellent, 51% good, 29% fair, and 11% poor to very poor.
