According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, in the southeast district corn is even further behind with 77% in the dough stage and 28% has dented. The state’s corn is rated at 11% excellent, 51% good, 27% fair, and 11% poor to very poor. Soybeans in the state are also behind.
Across Iowa, the soybean crop has 90% setting pods at 18 days behind last year, and only three percent has started coloring, 11 days behind average. In the southeast district, 80% of soybeans are setting pods. Soybeans in Iowa are currently rated at 9% excellent, 51% good, 29% fair, and 11% poor to very poor.
