Soil conditions in the southeast district are drier than the state’s overall trends. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Iowa’s topsoil moisture is rated at 69% adequate and 26% short. In southeast Iowa less than half has adequate topsoil moisture and is currently rated at 45% adequate, 40% short, and 15% very short.

Subsoil moisture is a similar story. Iowa’s subsoil moisture is 70% adequate and 25% short. The southeast district is rated at 45% adequate, 44% short, and 10% very short. There’s a chance for some rain showers in the area this weekend, listen to KCII for weather updates.
